Need help with my hall
Comments (19)my entrance hall is way smaller than yours, with similar stairs, white banister and natural oak console and mirror. For years on end each time we've redecorated it has been where we 've experimented with really bold colour choices for walls and carpets, some arguably less successful than others. Last year was the first time we tried yellow - none of us really likes the colour but we were running out of ideas. We used Dulux's Sunny Day throughout, freshened banister and skirting with really bright white and picked a bold striped carpet for the stairs. It's been the best combination so far, and has looked even larger and brighter after we incorporated some small golden accessories on the wall and console. I cannot reccomend it strongly enough. Funniest thing is whoever visits and praises it always starts with 'I don't really like yellow but.... this yellow looks amazing or this yellow is sort of different ... Do buy a tester and give it a try. Use natural materials where you can and add a little gold here and there. Our hall has never looked so large, bright, warm and welcoming, and it doesn't look like we'll be experimenting again soon. Unless you live in an extremely hot part of the world, I cannot think of anything better. All the best, maria...See MoreMy tiles spoilt my bathroom
Comments (117)Hi all guess what the bathroom still isn't finished but I put some accessories in it and it is already looking quite different. The photo doesn't do it justice it looks better in real life. It looks quite pleasing to the eye. Unfortunately I have bigger problems than how it looks. Do any plumbers know if this shower is access compliant? It has no cut-out or thermostat. You have to control the shower with the bath taps so there is a high risk of scalding. Considering this is a specialist company for mobility I find this pretty shocking. You can't shut off the water other than the taps. Also the temperature fluctuates as there is no thermostat. This is the pipework and electrics below does anyone know if this is legal? See how near the pipes are to the cables??? It seems a bit precarious to me. I am worried about the cables getting hot or wet. Thanks everyone for your support and wish you all a Happy Christmas....See MorePlease help me pick a colour for my hall, stairs & landing
Comments (15)Well what a coincident! Visited a friend yesterday who is having her hallway, stairs and landing painted on Monday and wanted my advice (!). She has chosen a Karndean style herringbone floor for her hall and a soft check stair carpet in a warm caramel colour. Staircase is oak and glass. Not much natural light in the hall. We looked through loads of paint charts but she didn’t want the expense of F&B or Little G. Then we both felt Dulux Caramel Latte or Caramel Blush would look good. She later bought some matchpots and loves both shades, so she’s having the Latte on one wall and the Blush on the rest. They are lovely warm tones with very appropriate names!...See MoreWren Kitchens Yes or No
Comments (23)We had been planning a bespoke Shaker remodel, but a rather complicated saga led us to looking into and choosing IKEA Kitchens because everything was “Available Immediately”. And I honestly couldn’t be happier with it. The functionality is terrific.... the cabinets are a few centimetres deeper and taller than UK standard sizes (so more storage), the drawer and hinge hardware is top notch, and there are so many cabinet variants and accessories you can spec the design to your own perfection. We chose the Lerhyttan Grey wood doors with White Axstad uppers, then “customised” the look via cabinet pulls from an architectural ironmongery supplier, and a Duropal Carrera worktop from solidsurfacekitchens.co.uk. Price-wise it was a comparative bargain. Well worth booking a virtual planning session with them....See MoreCoco Liu
